TNBS Holds METT Socialization
The Sumatran Tiger Project in collaboration with Taman Nasional Berbak and Sembilang and Jambi Natural Resource Conservation Center (Balai KSDA Jambi) organized a “Socialization and Training on the Assessment of the Effectiveness of Conservation Area Management using METT” on 23-24 May 2017, at Hotel Abadi Suite, Jambi.
The purpose of this activity is to assess the effectiveness of conservation area management using METT in Berbak and Sembilang National Park and BKSDA Jambi and to make METT as a reference in planning and budget.
This activity also enhances the knowledge and understanding of the staff of Berbak and Sembilang National Park and Balai KSDA Jambi in term of monitoring the effectiveness of conservation area management using METT.
A total of 26 participants with details of 22 people from Berbak and Sembilang National Park Hall, 4 people from BKSDA Jambi participated in this socialization and training. Participants consisted of structural officials (4 persons), administrative staff (3 persons), functional staffs of PEH and Extension (15 persons), Polhut (2 persons) and Bakti Rimbawan (2 persons).
The materials in this training include: the introduction of METT as a management effectiveness monitoring tool (questionnaires 1, 2, and 3), implementation strategies for achieving IKK improving the effectiveness of conservation area management, and METT design and process assessment.
The result of the METT assessment of Berbak and Sembilang National Park is planned in July 2017, will be facilitated by ZSL.
TN Berbak and Sembilang form the METT Internal Assessment Team via the head of Balai’s decree and prepare the materials / documents required in the assessment. The results of the METT assessment will be used as a reference in the planning activities and budgets of TN Berbak and Sembilang Hall to remind METT values in subsequent appraisals.
